The Central Arkansas Rose Society (CARS) meetings are usually held at 2:00 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month, with the exception of July and December in the McGee Center, 3800 College Avenue in Conway. Several of our meetings are held in CARS members’ gardens and we occasionally change the date and time at the host’s request. Going on location in members’ gardens allows us to have programs specific to the particular month’s rose tasks, such as pruning for fall blooms in August, fertilizing roses in the spring or making flower arrangements using your roses and companion plants in November. These meetings provide practical demonstrations and give all of us the opportunity to see some beautiful Arkansas rose gardens, as well as providing visitors the opportunity to ask questions concerning rose care. Our 2011 event calendar appears below. This page will be updated periodically, so please check often for new listings.
Each October, the Central Arkansas Rose Society hosts a rose show, usually at the Natural Resources Center in Conway. Members and rose friends from Tennessee, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Louisiana exhibit roses from their gardens and contend for Queen of the Show. Even if you don’t exhibit roses, you’ll enjoy attending the show and seeing beautiful roses at their very best. Rose shows allow you to decide which roses you’d like to plant next spring!
You are welcome to attend our meetings and our annual rose show. If you decide that you’d like to join CARS and to receive our excellent monthly newsletter Rose Mite, our annual dues are $15 (click on the Membership link near the top right of the page). One benefit of the Rose Mite newsletter is that directions to CARS events are included.

Spring Pruning, Planting and Spray Demonstration
The public is invited to our pruning demo and members will take the opportunity to tidy the rose garden.
CARS’ members are then invited to a hamburger lunch at the Adlong’s home.

Road Trip!
Road trip to Sapulpa, Oklahoma to tour Don and Brenda Johnson’s beautiful rose garden. The Johnson’s
have the latest hybrid teas and a wonderful display of Old Garden Roses. The OGRs will be in top form. Prepare to be dazzled.

Garden Meeting
Garden meeting at the home of Heath and Bridget Johnson.
Heath and Bridget are our youngest and newest members. They’ve built beautiful rose beds at their lovely
hillside home in Maumelle. Come and let Bridget explain how she cajoled Heath into building the beds
with 80 pound landscape blocks. Having almost 90 roses in their one year old garden, they have
done “everything” right when designing and building their garden.
