Welcome to Central Arkansas Rose Society! The Central Arkansas Rose Society (CARS), an affiliate of the American Rose Society, is composed of individuals who enjoy growing and exhibiting roses and sharing their experience and knowledge. The purposes and objectives of the society are to encourage interest in and cultivation of the rose, to beautify this community and state by its use, to be affiliated with the American Rose Society, and to spread the knowledge and love of the rose whenever and wherever possible. This year, CARS’ members are working with the Faulkner County Master Gardeners to build and sponsor a rose garden within the Water Conservation and Butterfly Demonstration Garden at the Natural Resources facility in Conway. The garden will feature disease resistant and Earthkind varieties of roses. CARS meets the second Sunday of the month at the McGee Center in Conway or at members’ homes so that we may enjoy their gardens. Our meetings are short on business and are devoted to great programs on roses and related gardening topics. The CARS’ newsletter, The Rose Mite, edited by Don and Paula Adlong, is full of articles by local rose growers (rosenuts?) and gives monthly advice geared for Arkansas’ gardens. Please take time to look over our web site. You will find resources for growing roses, links to other web sites of interest to rose growers, and pictures of beautiful roses. If you like what you see, click the Membership link for information on joining the CARS. So, again - welcome, and enjoy yourself. Please email any suggestions, comments or questions. |
